Hi! I’m Xiaoqian Liu, also known as Liu Laoshi or Teacher Xiaoqian. I am a professional Chinese language instructor with B.A., M.A., and M.Ed. degrees in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. With over 20,000 hours of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds—helping each one grow in confidence and fluency. My professional experience includes teaching at Global Affairs Canada, various school boards, universities, and of course… Teatime! I have also conducted extensive research in Chinese language teaching and learning, publishing papers in academic conferences and peer-reviewed journals. I am honored to have received the “Excellent Instructor Award” twice in the Chinese Bridge language proficiency competition. My teaching style combines research-based second language approaches with a focus on Comprehensible Input (CI)—making Chinese learning engaging, efficient, and sustainable.
